Making homemade Halloween costumes does't have to be daunting--with this cute DIY car costume, you'll be off to the races in no time! Just follow these step-by-step instructions: many of the supplies can already be found around your home.
Lay cardboard boxes flat. Trace and cut out two sides of desired car shape. Use smaller piece to build the middle of the car, leaving space at the top to fit through, and tape together with durable tape.
Use strips of newspaper and paste made from flour and water to paper mache for strength. Once dry, paint the exterior of the car.
Cut out 2" strips of black felt for suspenders. Attach with tape to the interior of the car, making sure they cross in the back for support.
Attach wheels made from black paper plates and tin foil-covered "hub caps" with glue. Accordian fold the sheet of black foam,
gluing at the corners, and attach with glue. Insert new batteries into the lights, then glue to the front of the costume.
