Create a backyard haven for your children this summer with this easy, inexpensive craft project
Once the tent is complete, let the summertime fun commence!
Some of our favorite ways to use a backyard tent:
- Stock it with flashlights, sleeping bags and pillows, then get ready to snuggle up.
- Build a campfire. Call your fire department and ask if conditions are favorable for a blaze. If you get the go-ahead, start your fire at least 20 feet away from your home. Make sure the area is clear of dry leaves and grass, which could catch fire if ignited by sparks. Stash a fire extinguisher and buckets of water or a hose nearby and keep an eye on the flames.
- Tell ghost stories. Borrow a Goosebumps series book (by author R.L. Stine) from the library and read aloud a few chapters.
- Stargaze. Make our Stargazing Jar craft and seek out stars in the night sky.
