Easy project: Make a hanging lamp

Light up an outdoor space with an easy DIY hanging lamp.

YOU'LL NEED: 

  • 2 matching wire planter baskets 
  • Pendant socket (Hemma cord set, $4; at Ikea.) 
  • Lightbulb 
  • Fine-gauge wire 
  • Wire cutters

 

  1. Turn a planter upside down and feed pendant socket through top.
  2. Secure cord to top of planter with wire.
  3. Screw lightbulb into socket. Bulb should hang to middle of globe or a little above.
  4. Wire second planter to first, matching up seams.
  5. Snip extra wire; wrap stray ends toward inside of light.
  6. Hang lamp from pendant wire.
