Want a creative, affordable upgrade for your porch or patio? Update your outdoor furniture with this easy DIY.
TOTAL COST: $16-$17
STUFF YOU HAVE:
- Side table
- Drop cloth or newspaper
- Scrapbooking stickers in foliage motif
- 2" flat paintbrush
- 2 sheets medium-grit (60 to 80) sandpaper
STUFF YOU NEED:
- Spray paint, outdoor formula ($9; at Amazon)
- Mod Podge Outdoor ($7; at Amazon) or spray sealant (such as Krylon Make It Last clear sealer, $8; at Amazon)
Step 1: Lightly sandpaper tables to rough up finish. Spread drop cloth or newspaper on ground or the floor of a well-ventilated area; set side table on top. Apply spray paint in light coats, following manufacturer's instructions. Let dry overnight.
Step 2: Decide where you want stickers to go—on front of drawers and winding down legs, for instance. Design should be symmetrical. Apply stickers to table. When design is complete, apply a layer of Mod Podge Outdoor over stickers, using paintbrush. Work carefully: Edges of stickers might start to peel up, especially if they're on a curved surface (such as a table leg). If using a spray sealant instead of Mod Podge Outdoor, follow manufacturer's instructions.
TIP: Your finished project will be weather-resistant but not weatherproof, so don't leave it in a spot where it will be totally exposed to the elements.
