YOU'LL NEED:

  • Ruler and pencil or printer
  • Plain white paper
  • Scissors
  • Fabric, solids or patterns (patterns should be on both sides)
  • Spray starch
  • Double-fold wide bias tape
  • An iron
  • Stitch Witchery or similar fusible bonding tape

  1. Draw a triangle, 6" wide and 8" long, or download a template and print. Cut out.
  2. Use pattern to cut triangles out of a variety of fabrics. You’ll need approximately three pennants for every 2' of banner; for a 12' banner, cut 18 triangles.
  3. Spray triangles with starch to help prevent fraying.
  4. Cut bias tape to desired length of banner, allowing 1' extra at each end for hanging.
  5. Fold tape in half and iron to crease. Open flat.
  6. Cut two 6" lengths of Stitch Witchery for each pennant. Starting 1' from end, lay a length of Stitch Witchery on lower half of bias tape. Lay a pennant over Stitch Witchery and iron according to instructions on package. Lay a length of Stitch Witchery over top of pennant, fold upper half of bias tape down over Stitch Witchery and iron.
  7. Space pennants about 2" apart, and repeat Step 6 for each pennant.
