Star stamp tees

Have guests at your 4th of July party decorate their own patriotic tees with homemade star stamps. This kid-friendly craft is fun for all ages.

YOU'LL NEED:

  • Cutting board
  • Chef knife
  • Two large potatoes
  • Star-shaped cookie cutters, small and medium size
  • Paring knife
  • White t-shirts
  • Red and blue inkpads
  • Paper towels

  1. On cutting board, cut a potato in half across width (the "waist"). Press small cookie cutter at least ½" into potato. Use paring knife to carefully cut away pieces surrounding star, so star protrudes. Repeat on other half of potato.
  2. Cut remaining potato in half down the length. Press medium cookie cutter at least ½" into potato. Use paring knife to carefully cut away pieces surrounding star, so star protrudes. This yields two small star stamps and two large ones, creating one stamp for each color in both sizes.
  3. Lay a t-shirt on flat surface. Press potato stamp onto inkpad; wipe off excess ink with paper towel. Carefully press potato stamp onto t-shirt. Repeat to create a custom design.
