How to Position Your Car to Safely Fix a Flat
Pull over in a safe, flat spot. Put the car in park if the transmission is automatic or in any gear if it's manual. Pull the emergency brake and turn off the ignition. Set emergency triangles or flares behind the car at three-yard intervals. Place one brick in front of the wheel diagonal from the flat and another behind it. This will keep the car steady while it's on the jack.
