Decorating with candies in holiday colors and brighter hues makes for a truly show-stopping gingerbread house. We used sweets commonly available at the supermarket.

HOUSE:

  •  Wilton Pre-Baked Gingerbread House Kit (not assembled); www.wilton.com
  •  Royal icing

**Make extra royal icing: Beat 2 large egg whites with 2 tsp. lemon juice. Sift 3 to 3½ cups confectioners' sugar; beat into whites until smooth. Keep tightly covered.**

ROOF:

  •  Strawberry licorice laces
  •  Jelly Belly Tropical Mix jelly beans
  •  Red Twizzlers
  •  M&M's Peanut Butter candies

CHIMNEYS:

  •  Starburst Fruit Chews

WINDOWS:
