Quick Tip: Use gel-paste food coloring to tint batches of royal icing red or green (icing colors, $2 for 1 oz.; www.wilton.com).

Use favorite candies in holiday colors to give this house the look of an updated classic. Pipe extra royal icing to create icicles, snowdrifts and an overall wintry feel.

HOUSE:

•  Wilton Pre-Baked Gingerbread House Kit (not assembled); www.wilton.com
•  Royal icing
•  Red food coloring

ROOF:

•  Red and green Haribo Fruity Pasta Gummi candy (buy extra bags to get enough red and green candies)
•  Red and green mini fruit slices

CHIMNEYS:

•  Assorted red and white peppermint candies
