Go beyond the obvious: In addition to craigslist.org, monster.com and careerbuilder.com, look at aggregator sites like indeed.com and simplyhired.com, which compile jobs from a multitude of online job boards and employer sites.

Look local: States have job boards, too—visit careeronestop.org and select your state to find available government positions you may qualify for.

Search for an industry-specific job board: Examples include schooljobsnow.com if you’re in education and bridgestar.org for nonprofit work, or try visiting allretailjobs.com, foodindustryjobs.com or marketingjobs.com.

Be proactive: If there aren’t listings that match your qualifications, many sites will allow you to post your résumé so employers and recruiters can find you when positions become available. To cover all your bases, do this in addition to actively pursuing new openings.
