While the majority of the deals pop-up on Monday, numerous Web sites start posting specials at midnight Thanksgiving day. (If you’re on the West Coast, that’s 9:00 p.m on Thursday.) If you don’t see anything, check again the next morning―sites may have loaded specials sometime during the night.
Unlike Black Friday sales, when retailers may take a loss on some products to lure shoppers into stores, Cyber Monday prices aren’t likely to be rock-bottom. To make sure you’re getting a bargain, plug the product into a shopping search engine such as PriceGrabber.com to compare prices.
Don’t forget to search for promotional codes you can use at checkout―try RetailMeNot.com, Currentcodes.com and Couponcabin.com. Or, do a Google search for the name of the site you’re buying from and the words “promotion code.”
If you belong to a rebate program such as ebates.com or FatWallet.com, make sure to sign on there first. You’ll get money back on qualifying purchases.

personal information such as your social security number or a credit card number, watch out.
Look at the URL address in the browser bar. Scammers have become increasingly sophisticated at concocting sites that mimic well-known stores. When in doubt, don’t follow the link but instead type the store’s correct address into the browser bar to do your shopping.
