Browse store circulars for meat specials (they are usually advertised on the front and back pages). You should be able to find many types of meat priced at $1 a pound or less, depending on how they’re prepared (bone-in, skin-on chicken breasts usually cost less than boneless and skinless, for example). Buy as much as you can fit in your freezer. And take advantage of pre- and post- holiday price cuts― for example, ham at Easter and hot dogs around the Fourth of July.
