Want to sell your items on Craigslist.org? Here are 4 tips to get you started
List on the world’s largest classified ad site, where users hawk furniture, appliances, cars, kids’ gear and services in their area.
- Time it right: Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning are the best times to put up your ad (that’s when buyers log on to see what’s new). You can repost only every three days. Do it again early the next week to maximize exposure.
- Group similar items: Buyers shopping a certain category are likely to be looking for more than one thing. So if you’re trying to sell a crib and a changing table, post the ads one after the other. You never know what people are looking for, and most would rather deal with just one seller.
- Be open to negotiation: Craigslist is haggler heaven, so you’re more likely to attract buyers on the fence by including “or best offer (OBO)” in the header next to your asking price.
- Need to know: Avoid scams by dealing locally, never wiring funds, refusing to give out financial information and using a generic e-mail address.
