Take a time-out. If your dog bites you, give a high-pitched cry and then walk away and ignore it, or leave the room for a minute. This will teach your pet that you won’t tolerate biting. Or give your puppy a chew toy when he bites.
Don’t provoke biting. Avoid waving your toes or fingers in your dog’s face. And don’t jerk your hand away if you’re bitten; pull it away slowly or let it go limp. Otherwise the dog may think you’re playing and may bite you again.
Pick the right kind of play. Play games that let your dog exercise, like fetch. Don’t engage in wrestling or roughhousing, which will make your dog even more aggressive.
