Make a few minor adjustments to your routine to keep office aches and pains at bay
A few simple daily exercises could help you avoid workplace tensions like headaches and tense muscles. After doing relaxation and posture exercises a few times a day for eight months, office workers in Italy dramatically cut their use of painkillers and reported 40 percent fewer headaches, according to a study published in the journal Cephalalgia. Try this exercise to unwind:
- Stand with your heels, hips and the nape of your neck touching the wall.
- Keeping the rest of your body still, bring your shoulders back so they touch the wall and release. Then move your head forward and backward.
- Cup your hands behind your neck. Gently press your neck back into your hands until you feel some resistance. Hold for 2-3 seconds. Repeat this series of movements 8-10 times.
