Have a ball celebrating soccer’s main event, which kicks off June 12!
At the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, fans made noise for their teams by blowing vuvuzelas, long plastic trumpets. Here’s how to create your own.
• Small saw or serrated knife
• Plastic baseball bat
• Paper party-favor
• Plastic cup
• Colored electrical tape
• Warm-glue gun
1. Adults should supervise this project. Using saw or knife, cut domed end off hollow bat. Around that circumference, use scissors to cut slits down toward base, about 4" long and 1" apart.
2. Cut off bottom part of cup. Grabbing wide end in your hand, fit smaller end snugly into end of bat between slits, so that it widens the "bell" of your horn. Glue in place. To cover cup and close gaps around it, use electrical tape, which you can also use to decorate the horn.
3. Hollow out a 1/2" hole at base of handle (there should be a pinhole there). Cut off a mouthpiece from paper horn and insert in hole. Glue in place.
