Don't stress if you can't find canned pumpkin for this cake, sweet potato puree is a great substitute. Use the same amount as you would pumpkin, and follow the rest of the recipe as written. Be sure to use 100 percent pure sweet potato puree, not candied yams, which make the cake too sweet.
