Dividing a whole chicken into pieces sounds like messy work (53 percent of ALL YOU readers surveyed had never tried it!), but it's easier than you think.
Grip one leg, pull it away from the body and, with your knife, separate the leg bone from the socket. Repeat on the other side. Place a leg skin side down. Find and cut through the joint that connects the drumstick to the thigh. Repeat with the other leg. Set thighs and drumsticks aside.
