“Negotiate on less-than-fresh items. Be bold and ask a manager for lower prices on bakery items that are noticeably less fresh or stale (they’re still great to use for French toast, Italian beef sandwiches or other ‘soggy’ subs), meat products that are nearing or on their listed expiration date and produce that is malformed or has bent packaging. And if possible, shop solo. For me, extra family members at the store usually mean extra hands throwing items in the cart.”
