Try a soft bun: Going out? This easy updo is ideal.

* Create volume. To get a bit of lift, gently tease the front and sides using a comb, then sweep your hair into a loose ponytail to the side at the nape of your neck. Secure with an elastic.

* Rough it up a bit. If you have straight or wavy hair, tease the entire length of the ponytail with a fine-tooth comb to create texture. If your hair is curly, leave as is.

* Wrap and go. Secure the bun, and any flyaways from the front, with hairpins―not elastics―to give the bun more body. Pull a few strands away from (but not out of) the elastic to add fullness. Finish with a light coat of hairspray.
