Step three: Add warmth and color

To prevent makeup meltdown, be selective about the formulas. Apply a gel bronzer, then color your lids with a wash of sheer cream eye shadow in a neutral color. Rub a sheer stain onto lips and cheeks (be sure to blend in the edges with your fingers). Line your eyes with a waterproof eyeliner and finish the look with a quick swipe of waterproof mascara on top lashes only.

Apply a gel bronzer like Stila Sun Gel ($24; stilacosmetics.com) where the sun naturally hits your face: forehead, cheekbones, nose and chin. Creams don’t clump in the heat. Try Pixi by Petra Eye Crème Glow in Lightness ($28; at Target); the colors are soft and subtle, and the texture is easy to blend.
