Keep your fall and winter boots looking great no matter the weather—and for years to come—with these easy tips, including how to clean leather boots, how to waterproof leather and suede boots, how to store boots, and more.
How to Waterproof Suede Boots
Suede boots tend to require a little more heavy lifting than leather. It’s worth investing in a suede care kit, available at pharmacies and shoe-repair shops, so you have a suede brush and cleaning kit ready should any issues crop up. Also look for a product like Nikiwax Nubuck & Suede Proof spray, which you’ll use to waterproof new suede.
Make sure the boots are clean before applying. Simply spray the product evenly over the surface of your shoes. Let dry overnight. This creates a water- and stain-repellant barrier over the suede while maintaining its natural soft texture.
